drawing board or foam core for backing on easel

18 x 24 newsprint pad

18 x 24 drawing pad (better paper than newsprint)

9 x 12 or 11 x 14 drawing pad

vine or willow charcoal, soft – few sticks

compressed charcoal – 2 sticks

graphite pencil or graphite crayon 4B and 6B

kneaded eraser
