One day workshop: Saturday, January 24th from 11am - 3:30pmInstructor: Rosemary Cooley
Robert Rauschenberg and Donald Saff traveled to China and toured the world’s oldest paper mill in Jingxian, where Xuan paper is produced. The collaborative collages made were exhibited in 1985 at ROCI CHINA in Beijing. In this workshop, students will learn the basics of China Ink painting, something that the instructor studied during her stay in Shanghai from 2005-2009. We will work with Chinese brushes and China ink on Xuan paper to produce large paintings which may be embellished with gold and white inks over traditional black and indigo brushmarks.
